The brainchild of two movie producers who wanted stylish and functional outdoor clothing, Aether apparel has always been ahead of the renewable curve. Having already installed solar panels on the roof of their California headquarters, when scouting for a pop-up shop, the group leapt on the idea to gut and restore a used airstream. Thierry Gaugain from France put together a few concept diagrams they couldn't resist, and the team set about realizing "the ultimate guy’s workshop, an adventure lab on wheels, a mobile man cave." It wasn't always easy, but finally, after weeks of hard work, the industrial-chic AESTHERstream is officially on the road.

The original 34 foot Airstream, which was discovered in Denton, Texas, was completely gutted and then retrofitted with reclaimed wood floors, modular shelving, and all kinds of vintage storage and decorative items. Unbelievably, there is even a couch on one end of the mobile shop, and Aether’s entire fall line is efficiently displayed. Although the space is said to be somewhat tight, this is one of the coolest adaptive reuse programs we’ve seen in a while.
