Makro unveils UK's cheapest e-book reader

The price of e-book readers has been slashed again with wholesaler Makro advertising the Binatone ReadMe Classic for around £35.
The device typically sells for £139 but in its latest non-food catalogue the wholesaler lists the device at £29 for its trade customers. Makro typically excludes VAT from listed prices so the device will sell for £34.80. The latest cut in price of the device comes just weeks after Asda began selling the View Quest Mediabox 5in Media Tablet for £52. When Borders became the first bookseller to sell an e-book reader in 2008, it sold the iRex iLiad for £399.
The ReadMe Classic has a 2GB memory and can support TXT, CHM, HTML and PDF files. The offer was sent out to customers yesterday and lasts until 8th March.
