What we need to be well-dressed and what you need to avoid being poorly dressed:
. My view is that in order to be well-dressed, you have to be able to compile your own list of what you need to be stylish
.Dont be a fool and try to be the present idea of dressed down or the other parametre of silly money for clothes that look normal, you can get good unusual clothes for a good price if you look around. The shops to look at are Marks and spencers Marble arch branch where theyve got all the stuff not kept in other stores, yeh M and S is a tired brand but they always have a few gems at rock bottom prices (£25) if you shop at sale time.
For every day walkabout shoes try Asos. They have shoes that cost little and are nice but theres a problem you have to rest them after a days wear so buy three four pairs and alternate daily.
For better shoes try Herring and Loake, these are decent shoes and cost from 150 to 230.
But not everyone aspires to be “well dressed”.So if you are a slob switch off now Too often I hear of men who are wearing bespoke suits and hats and shoes in places where that just makes you look silly and no one cares.(above Asos 25 pounds)43 pounds asos
Perhaps a more useful list would describe the bare necessities required for these men who does not wear a jacket, much less a tie, daily, and has no intrinsic interest in clothing, but would prefer not to look like a slob in every day situations , so heres what you need.
- a navy blazer or blueish blazerthis will be the most important thing in your wardrobe, you could get william halstead two tone material and have a jacket done like the one above in two tone mohair , then wear it on its own in an english summer or under a heavy wool overcoat in winter.black shoes by asos 25 pounds
- either a navy or a charcoal suitstatham in william halstead material, if you take a break in italy for two weeks my tailor will knock the material up for you for 200 notes if you bring the material
.Is a suit like this important, yeh because the material makes it more than an office shite M and S type suit. This same material comes in a blue and you could get a blue suit plus another pair of trousers in cream for summer. Thus you wear the jacket as a blazer and a suit. In winter under a heavy coat and in Summer without. For info on my good but very inexpensive tailor contact me on the comments page
- (i.e. not french cuff) white dress shirts (get these made by hand if poss,
I have a guy in Eygpt who copies for me , price 5 notes per shirt, get the above design in white, its a great look that can be used all the time in any given situation, avoid all the trad shirt places , well crap.Best place is Claudio on dna Groove shirts, good bloke as well, made to measure shirt 60 euro.OXFORD one with a button-down collar and in oxford, dont buy expensive ones, best oxford in this given moment is H ans M 15 notes
- either dress chinos or some mid-grey trousers. I bought M and S slim Chinos, as good as anything around and in the sale 7 pounds, they are also very forgiving.Always go for the slim fit chino at M and S as a lot of their trousers are well crap. The ones with active waist are good. Team these chinos here with any colour shoe, they all go with this stone grey.you can wear a polo like the ones from robe di kappa which I consider the best for spring and summer
- black shoes are a must? Not really as stated a good blue is a much better colour and more versatile
dont wear trainers wear vans or asos in free time moments, the only trainers I like are puma- a black belt (not the karate kind)
- some kind of reppe striped tie
- a solid navy tie (grenadine is a good choice) if your suit is charcoal, a black and white glen-plaid tie if your suit is navy. check out t k maxx stores, they have decent ties at low cost.
- solid navy socks
Instructions for use:
When wearing the blazer and odd jacket without a tie, wear the button-down collar shirt. When wearing the suit (and this will be with a tie, since you never wear the suit without the tie), wear the non-button-down collar shirt. When wearing the blazer with a tie, either shirt is fine. When wearing the blazer with a tie, wear the reppe stripe tie or cravatte. With the suit, either tie is fine although the non-stripe one will usually be better. Wear the jacket and pants from the suit together or not at all - do not wear the jacket from the suit with some other trousers or the trousers with the blazer.get a good overcoat , try to get one in a lighter shade looks better
As I said earlier, these items are all things that you’ll need on your path to being truly well-dressed. So don’t think of it as an alternative path. It’s just a respectable stopping point if you have no desire to go further. If later you want to add to your wardrobe of tailored clothing, you don’t have to start over. You can just add to it with some brown shoes (and a brown belt), some light blue dress shirts, and whichever odd trouser you didn’t include in your first purchases. Before you know it you’ll be bespeaking three piece tweed suits.
*A possible exception if you’re on a tight budget is if your suit is more of a mid-grey than charcoal, then you can wear the pants with your navy blazer - but a charcoal suit is a better thing to have for your only suit than a mid-grey suit for your only suita really good thing to have is a leather jacket which is great for most free time activity, what about this one at 350 pounds made for Italian mangusta helicopter pilots in the stan.http://clicks.aweber.com/y/ct/?l=Fu1NN&m=3auqOtdyrb3MPhS&b=ImmFfU31sZb0fNJEMAx.eA

herring bond 225 the shoes here are all on the herring site , the blue ones are better than buying black as they look better, herring are one of the few doing a good quality white brogue as well.
