eating in london

caffs

A cafe is, quite simply, a small, informal restaurant. Literally, the word is Spanish for "coffee" as the early cafes were places where coffee was served.I Iyaly it would be like an old osteria or tavola calda. Rough and ready. Whether you are after a light lunch or a substantial supper, you will find LONDON crammed with places to satisfy every possible taste and craving.
The backlash against the Starbucking of the high street has started, announced caff aficionado Adrian Maddox at the news that Pellicci's, a tiny time capsule of a caff that has stood in the East End of London for 105 years, has been given listed building status.

Cafe Rendezvous, Highbury Park, N4

December 30, 2011
First visited January 2011. Last visited 30th December 2011.
Interior: A proper modern classic this one: shiny plastic tables and chairs with red leatherette trim, fake brickwork on the walls and bright, laminated menus. The welcome was so-so for me but extremely cordial for the many locals, so I’m guessing you have to earn it with regular visits.
Food: I had a really excellent vegetarian breakfast. Loads of mushrooms, a grilled tomato, fried egg, beans and lovely patty of bubble. In some ways it didn’t feel unhealthy enough but was very welcome given the hangover I was treating. Tea was on the milky side but strong enough that it stood up to it. And in a mug. I had two. Given the first one was included in the set breakfast price, a fiver seemed like a bargain.

DINING ROOMS

Fast food
it can be heart-healthy food if you know what to look for and order, and have the will power to follow through.  With a little bit of effort, you can ensure that the fast-food meals you choose fall within a healthy dietary pattern

Pubs & Bars

Packed with bars and pubs, LONDON has a good array of character filled taverns and nightspots.  .
Whether you prefer to while away the evening next to a roaring fire nursing a fine wine, or live it up with a lively crowd, you will be spoilt for choice.  Explore the streets and you will find yourself irresistibly drawn towards cosy inns, music filled pubs and hotel bars.  Food is from basic to high class and so are prices
TEA HUTS
The hot drinks are hot and the food is fresh, cooked when you order it. .
The Blackheath Tea Hut on a sunny day
Being the size that Tea huts are the food is basic but tasty, rolls and cakes and hot tea plus burgers and sandwiches , there are also cabbie huts, these are for taxi drivers, you can sit down though.
